Engineering my future

Get to know my journey as an aspiring mechanical engineer, my dedication to precision, and my vision for innovation in the automotive sector.

About me: engineering my future

Hi, I’m Minh Quang Hoang, an aspiring mechanical engineer currently based in Queensland, Australia. My professional journey is a blend of hands-on technical work and rigorous academic study. While I currently spend my workdays ensuring excellence in automotive presentation as a professional car detailer, my true passion lies in understanding the complex mechanical systems under the hood.

How I got here

My fascination with how things work started with a curiosity about automotive machinery, which led me to pursue a degree in engineering with a focus on structural and fluid mechanics. This academic path has challenged me to master concepts like hydrostatic pressure and beam deflection, which I apply to my technical reports. Balancing a part-time job as a car washer on several days of a week while maintaining a full-time study load has taught me invaluable lessons in time management, professional reliability, and resource compliance.

My achievements and passions

I take great pride in my ability to translate complex conceptual requirements into functional mechanical solutions. A significant milestone in my development was my contribution to several robotics projects, where my team consistently achieved high scores. In these projects, I took the lead on sketching initial models, strategically selecting materials, and executing the final assembly of the robot components. This hands-on experience sharpened my problem-solving skills and my ability to analyze and process technical tasks under pressure.

I am technically proficient in both traditional and digital design; I am equally comfortable sketching models on paper as I am using SolidWorks for 3D modeling. This dual capability allows me to visualize engineering challenges from the first draft through to a digital prototype.

Beyond my academic achievements, I am deeply passionate about the inner workings of complex machinery. I am driven by a desire to gain in-depth knowledge of how large-scale machines operate, particularly cars and motorcycles. This passion is what fuels my current work in the automotive industry and my long-term goal of working on large-scale engineering projects where I can contribute to the evolution of modern transportation and industrial machinery.

Where I’m going next

In the short term, I am looking to transition into a maintenance technician or junior engineering role where I can utilise industrial equipment and contribute to facility improvements. Ultimately, I aim to become a lead mechanical engineer in the automotive sector, designing innovative solutions that make mechanical systems more efficient and sustainable.
