Technical projects: bringing designs to life
During a high-stakes university robotics competition, I was responsible for the structural design and physical build of our team’s robot. My role involved the entire lifecycle of the component, from initial paper sketches to creating detailed 3D models in SolidWorks. I also managed the material selection and final assembly, ensuring the robot was durable enough to meet performance requirements. By analyzing the task constraints and collaborating effectively with my team, we achieved high scores in the project, proving the reliability of my designs. This experience was vital as it allowed me to practice hands-on mechanical skills and problem-solving in a real-world scenario. This artefact is important because it showcases my SolidWorks Proficiency and Practical Assembly skills. These directly link to the "Maintenance Technician" industry expectations I analyzed in Part A, proving I can bridge the gap between digital design and operating complex machinery.

Academic excellence: precision in theory
In my third year of engineering, I completed a formal laboratory report focusing on hydrostatic pressure and its effects on submerged surfaces. My primary task was to analyze raw experimental data to determine the center of pressure for various submerged planes. To achieve this, I utilized Microsoft Word to format the technical document, ensuring all scientific notation and symbols were precise and professional. This process required a high level of mathematical accuracy and attention to detail, as I had to reconcile physical measurements with theoretical beam deflection models. The resulting report provided clear evidence of my ability to process complex requirements and deliver high-quality technical documentation. This artefact is meaningful because it demonstrates my Technical Reporting and Mathematical Proficiency, which are essential competencies for a future Maintenance Engineer tasked with ensuring the structural integrity of industrial facilities.
